Roger Box returns to the Corinium Museum to share the world of the medieval coinage of England.
Evening Lecture with Roger Box Thursday 25 May, 7-8.30pm Roger Box returns to the Corinium Museum to share the world of the medieval coinage of England. He will cite examples from local rarities including silver pennies from Gloucester, Bath, Malmesbury, Cricklade and Winchcombe and offer a whistle-stop coin tour from the early medieval period through to the Civil War. Roger Box has been called upon to impart his expertise in local discoveries ranging from the King Alfred penny through to the Western-sub-Edge Civil War coin hoard, now in the Corinium Museum collections. He will interpret the meaning and translate the messages such coins convey, whilst placing them into the context of the medieval period.
