An evening lecture with Richard Cann Thursday 30th May, 7 – 8.30pm Richard Cann is a tour guide and lecturer at Gloucester Cathedral. His talk is an introduction to the incorporation and use of glass in medieval church architecture. It looks at the making of medieval glass, how a window is described and how it is commissioned. You will see a short video made for the V & A on the making of a stained glass window, and Richard will give an explanation of the subject matter and location, when a commission is received. He will look at the iconography and symbolism incorporated into a window when illustrating biblical stories or the lives of saints. The talk will mainly be illustrated using the windows of Gloucester Cathedral. Cost: £5.65 or £5.00 for season ticket holders.
