Tetbury Music Festival
Tetbury Music Festival 2013 has an ambitious programme. Repertoire from 18th to 20th centuries, orchestral & chamber music, instrumental & vocal works including on Thursday the Mozart Piano Concerto No 17 in G Major and the Beethoven Piano Concerto No 4 in G Major, Opus 58, played by fortepiano Kristian Bezuidenhout. The concert also includes Beethoven Coriolan Overture and Concertino for 2 French horns, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, a bassoon and strings by composer, Myslivecek. Friday brings The Kelemen String Quartet with Haydn’s String Quartet in C Opus 20 No 2, Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet in E flat minor Opus 30 No 3 & Bartok’s String Quartet No. 5 Sz102. Returning Saturday morning are artists of international renown: mezzo-soprano Sarah Connolly is joined by Joseph Middleton together with baritone Jonathan Lemalu. That same evening brings the welcome return of cellist Steven Isserlis, joined by pianist, Stephen Hough. A highlight of this concert will be the British premiere of Hough’s Sonata for Cello especially commissioned for the Festival.Sunday marks the beginning of a five-year series of David Thomas Memorial Concerts with Bach’s B Minor Mass, bringing the Festival to a magnificent close.
