Dr Matthew Nicholls of Reading University has built a huge, detailed digital model of ancient Rome, reconstructing the city as it appeared around AD315. Using the latest digital technology in combination with archaeological and literary source material, the model contains thousands of buildings from the grandest monuments to everyday housing, docks, and warehouses.
