Events for all the family 

All of the following events take place at Cotswold Discovery Centre at the Old Prison, Fosseway, Northleach, Gloucestershire GL54 3JH

Ample free parking is available. Disabled parking bays are located directly outside the entrance of the centre. Pulham's bus services 855,801 and Swanbrook service 853 serve the Centre.  The nearest mainline railway stations are Moreton-in-Marsh, Kemble (serving Cirencester) and Cheltenham.

June 2017 Events

Birds and Breakfast - Sunday 4 June, 7am to 10am
£7.50 per person  (Full English Breakfast with Filter Coffee or Tea)

Join local bird expert Andy Lewis for an early morning walk from the Cotswolds Discovery Centre, followed by breakfast in the cafe.

Needle Felting - Monday 12 June, 10am to 4pm
£40 per person

Learn the satisfying art of needle felting. Create a cushion cover, make bold brooches or a decorative piece. Applique style needle felting is great for embellishing clothing and soft furnishings. The soft and silky raw wool fibres are versatile and easy to work with. Introduction to Weaving - Friday 7 July 10am to 4pm
£65 per person (including tea, coffee and all materials)

Spend a day with local Textile Designer and Hand-weaver, Rebecca Connolly, exploring the craft of Weaving. Suited to all ages and those with little experience; however for students who have some experience the course will develop your weave technique and design skills.

Smartphone and Tablet Photography Course - Saturday 8 July 1pm to 4pm

This workshop is designed to get the best out of your phone or tablet. These devices have great cameras with many advanced features, there is much to learn.

Thatching Taster Day - Tuesday 18 July 10am to 5pm
£99 per person (including tea, coffee and all materials)

This practical course is designed as a taster to introduce you to the skill of wheat straw thatching. During the course you can expect to learn about: a brief history of thatching, the materials used, splitting hazel to make fixings, methods of fixing a thatch coat onto a traditional wooden roof and trimming eves and gables using traditional tools .This process of wheat straw thatching will be demonstrated to show how it is done and then participants will be able to have a go themselves. No prior experience required. This course is ideal for those who have little or no experience of wheat straw thatching and want to learn more!

All tools and materials will be provided. All you need to bring is appropriate clothing, footwear, packed lunch and a bucket full of enthusiasm.

Join Jerome, Harris, George and Montmorency from Kingston-upon-Thames to Oxford as they encounter a variety of people, places and peculiar maladies and discuss various important topics such as ‘why very few people suffer from sea-sickness on land’ and ‘the advantages of cheese as a travelling companion’.
